Today we are extremely happy and thrilled to share one of our customers success story. We were approached by group of enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, technology lovers and good hearted people from Appnirman Solutions LLP who were developing an app Praxis 2k16 for the techfest event which was organised by one of the prestigious institute V. E. S. Institute of Technology situated in Mumbai, India. The event which was scheduled on 22nd and 23rd of September, 2016 witnessed students from 55 different colleges and 5000 engineers across Mumbai, India.
Here is what they have to say about the event and how Proximi.io platform was used for indoor positioning.
“ The idea of Techfest was to have BLE iBeacons installed in the infrastructure giving the best IoT experience for such an event. We had a team which was headed by Monu Shetty, planned the placements of beacons which was purchased from Kontakt.io. As a lean implementation we had 10 beacons in the infrastructure at the best possible strategic location.

We took a decision to go with Proximi.io as our Proximity Platform considering various features such as best integration of Kontakt.io beacons, better dashboard, best analytics, superior customer support etc. With the help from Proximi.io we were able to get the planned idea come true. The application has a feature called- Nearby which shows users on where he is standing and what’s nearby. This killed all the hassles of the participants on getting lost in the infrastructure.
We successfully developed the Praxis 2k16 application and hosted it on Google Play Store. Students as participants were happy to see the Nearby feature which was a tool to move in the unknown infrastructure and participate in the events hassle free.
The following features were used for the first time India using IoT.
- Indoor Map
- Live indoor location based notifications. (Geofences)
- Indoor location specifiers to know where a participant is inside the college.
