Dyreparken is Norway’s largest outdoor attraction with over 60 hectares. The site consists of a zoo, an amusement park, a waterpark, a pirate world and a selection of accommodation and restaurant options. Dyreparken is one of Norway’s most popular tourist attractions, with over a million annual visitors.
Problem
Dyreparken is spread across a large area, where walking from one end to another can take half an hour. The park needed a digital map and wayfinding that could be integrated into their mobile application. Additionally, the park was interested in gathering more analytics on how visitors move around at the park.
Results:
- Positioning with a combination of GPS positioning and 105 Bluetooth beacons scattered around the park area
- Released in July 2019 with great success, the application reaching #1 most downloaded travel application in Norway, and overall the 5th most downloaded application
- Over 8 million wayfinding requests recorded since the start of the project. On average, a park visitor makes 28 wayfinding searches with the application.
- Dyreparken has been able to stay open despite the pandemic, reaching their all-time best year in 2021.
